Scattered Memories

Hello, my name is Astral. I am currently traveling with Yuuma in order to locate the Numbers cards; Pieces of my memory. Upon his suggestion, I have decided to make a "blog". Although I do not see any purpose in it, I suppose I could use it in an attempt to gather some information...

There was little worse to Kaito than the involvement of more people in this matter. Lightning sped from his mind to his eyes, but he suppressed it and prevented himself from acting angry. He took a deep breath and asked a simple question. “Why are you concerned? Is it because of Yuma?”

Astral knew that it was treading on eggshells at this point, metaphorically speaking. This was undoubtedly a sore subject with Kaito, and it was starting to show. Was Astral only concerned because of Yuuma?

“No. Yuuma is worried just as much as I am about Haruto’s recovery; My concern, however, is also for a different reason. Haruto can see me. We conversed before he was kidnapped.”

Astral paused.

“I would like to talk to him again, when he is in good health.”

Astral watched as Kaito immediately became tense at its mention of his brother, gauging his reaction carefully. Kaito was trying his best to remain calm, that much the spirit could tell right away. But there it was again, that underlying aura of mistrust, anger, and uncertainty.

“You are lying, aren’t you?”

Either Astral was extremely sharp, or Kaito was under so much strain his usual facade was unable to contain his anguish. For this, he gritted his teeth before speaking. “I see you’ve picked up on that, but I don’t see a reason to tell you everything. Haruto’s still alive.”

So Haruto was alive, but he wasn’t okay, even after what must have been at least a week. Based on this small amount of information, Astral estimated that the boy could have sustained injuries that were not immediately visible, or that he was still suffering from lingering effects of over-exhaustion. Astral shook its head slightly.

“You do not have to tell me everything. It makes sense that this would be a cause of great worry for you, as he is family. I was concerned, and that is why I asked.”

He could be better? Astral quietly continued to look on, noticing the slight discoloration under Kaito’s eyes. Yuuma had told it that this was an indicator of a lack of sleep. Perhaps Kaito was just tired, but Astral felt as though there was more to it than being unable to rest.

The spirit looked away, folding its arms.

“How is Haruto?”

When Astral mentioned Haruto, Kaito prevented himself from yelling and forcefully stated, “He’s okay.” He didn’t trust Astral, his rival, in order to reveal the true extent to which his brother had been damaged. As usual, Kaito retained a still, sturdy stance.

Kaito still bore his unmistakable air of confidence, but beneath that there was…what? An uneasiness? Astral kept its eyes on him, expression unchanging.

“I am doing well. And yourself?”

“Good, but I could be better.”

Much like their duel several weeks back, Astral seemed to be analyzing, reading him, and this made Kaito more unsettled.

“How is Haruto?”

photonkaito:

“Hello.” Despite feeling superior to the Original, Kaito had a small sense of respect for who stood to defy him yet was kind enough to assist him. Of course, he didn’t need the help.

Kaito wouldn’t do anything rash for the time being. “How are you?”

The spirit eyed the young Numbers Hunter warily, cautious as a result of their duel in the Emperor’s Key. It knew that Kaito was not someone to be taken lightly, having witnessed his power on more than one occasion.

However, there wasn’t much Astral could do besides watch and acknowledge his presence.

“…Hello, Kaito.”

Anonymous sent: DO YOU LIKE POMEGRANATES?

My body does not constitute the need for food, nor can I make physical contact with the food to eat it.

I have never eaten a pomegranate, and therefore cannot give you an honest opinion of whether or not I like them.

You’re not from around here, are you? *she smiles a bit* I don’t think I’ve met anyone quite like you before. I’m Ishizu Ishtar. It’s a pleasure to meet you, ah…?

That is correct. I was sent from the Astral World to this world.

I am Astral. It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Ishizu.
